The Folklore we Create

It is the year 2140, Mars’ atmosphere is beginning to become too hot to contain life and is only getting hotter as the years pass. Planet Earth has been untouched for over 100 years due to the damage caused by the nuclear war. Back in 2039 over 13 countries got in a big worldwide argument over who would have world power. Many countries decided to use bombs to settle all the conflict and gain the power but that only made things worse and wiped out 80% of the population. Only doctors, scientist, and engineers were automatically accepted to travel to mars, but others had to pass a type of IQ test to be accepted. In 2120 our technology on mars was so powerful it was able to connect with signals back on earth. For years we were using the internet to uncover data from earth that was used years ago, such as ways to create spaceships, suits and cars of some sort, but that only lasted a matter of time. Around the year 2130 we lost all connections with earths signals as if all the technology on earth had be shut down or destroyed, we had no clue what could’ve happened, which only made everyone more curious. With the information and materials, we had we created a spaceship that would be able to transport everyone back to planet, but the only problem was we were still unsure if the trip was possible and safe. It is now July 25, 2140 and we have finally got the approval that earth was safe to return to and be explored on a limited time. The journey to earth took 300 days we decided it was best for us to go now and try to find any signs of technology left on the planet, which could give us answers to anything that happened over the years and discover what happened to the humans in 2039 that were declined life to mars. After days went by we finally entered the earth’s atmosphere and selected a destination on where to land. We pin point Boston, Massachusetts and waited to land, the ship had no windows therefore no one knew what to expect, we prayed for the best. As we hit grounded, we exited the ship to find building and houses but only to be covered in plants and trees. Earth felt so empty and dead there was no life as we could see, there were many burned down building and cars but there were a few buildings still holding up, therefore we went to search for any left overs before the destruction. As we walked in the huge 50 story office like building we found nothing, nothing but furniture and papers, but that did no help to us, so we decided to search higher and deeper. As we got to the 37th floor, we found that the floor was full of 100’s of computers but none seemed to work. We examined each and every computer and found none that worked at all. My partners found a basement deep under the first floor and called me over with our mics to come down. As I approached the hidden room we found technology that was still up and running, I got closer to look at the data left and found lots of ways humans from 2039 were communicating with one another trying to save each other off these websites of some sort. The first one that caught my eye was twitter on this website it seems as if the humans were communicating and connecting with others to create a survival plan. It’s crazy how humans in this time period relied on this form of social media to communicate to others and be able to trust them even though they’ve never seen them in real life. We found lots of information on where most families moved to, but it seems as if most of them lost connections along the way. After searching we only found information the humans left over for us as if they knew one day we would return, like where to find all the left-over technology that was would still be running and all the data needed to recreate a world-wide economy.
